Pachycephalosaurus was a herbivore (plating-eating) dinosaur that lived during the late Cretaceous period, between approximately 76 and 65 million years ago. It has been estimated that Pachycephalosaurus was probably about 15 feet (4.5 meters) long, and perhaps weighed 950 pounds (430 kilograms).

The best known feature of Pachycephalosaurus is the thick bone dome on its head. This dome was about 10 inches (25 centimeters) thick. Additionally, at the back of the dome were several short bony spikes.
